This came into my mailbox last week, and I couldn’t resist sharing. It’s by the uber-talented Grant Snider (who I’d love to meet, by the way) and came via the very helpful Red Lemon Club blog. I love Grant’s illustration style, color choices, and, most of all, his humor! I like the top two sections best, and the bottom one, of course (who can resist elephants?). How about you?

Today’s Google doodle honoring Saul Bass is a treat for the eyes. Bass, who would be 93 years old today,made movie title sequences an art form in the 50s and 60s with his bold, iconic and abstract images. Google references nine of his films, including three Hitchcock classics– Psycho, North by Northwest and Vertigo– plus Spartacus, West Side Story, Around the World in 80 Days and more. According to The Washington Post the design team was lead by Matt Cruickshank.

I was more taken, however, by their website and it’s clean, black and white graphics. I especially like the icons at the top of the page. I’m still waiting for someone to open one of these in the Roaring Fork Valley, by the way!

  1. Are you reducing the overall amount of paper you need, and choosing the lightest- weight materials?
  2. Are you reusing your existing and returned material?
  3. Does the material have the lowest possible carbon footprint?
  4. Is the material easily reused by the consumer?
  5. Is the material made from recycled content with the highest available level of post- consumer material?
  6. Is the material recyclable?
  7. If the material gets thrown away can it be landfilled safely?
  8. Will it take up the smallest amount of space available?
