dancing with the stars invitation

Friday, June 25th, 2010

We recently completed a project for the Aspen Santa Fe Ballet’s annual gala, entitled “Dancing with the Aspen Stars.” They wanted a piece that was interesting, fun, young and evocative of the 50′s/60′s lounge era. In their creative brief, they referred to the tv show Mad Men and asked for black silhouettes, cutouts and a mod feel. Here’s what we designed for them:

This project was thoroughly enjoyable, and we’re very happy with the end result!

I could really use one of these for the loads of junk mail we get every day! I particularly like the fact that you have to crank it by hand. Can you imagine? It would keep my 4-year-olds occupied and entertained for hours!

The Aspen Summer Kiosks we designed for Real Time Marketing and the City of Aspen are finished and should be up on the mall by now.  I forgot to look for them when I was in Aspen last weekend. I’d love it if someone would let us know if they’ve seen them and how they look. We simplified them significantly and added color for what we think is a fun and graphic look!

ithree june calendar

As I rode my scooter to the office yesterday, I went through a storm of cottonwood seeds floating through the lovely spring air. It made me smile. They can be both annoying and beautiful at the same time. There were no cottonwood trees where I grew up in Florida, so I didn’t get to experience the ‘summer snow’ effect these diaphanous little wisps have on a place. In May, when I was thinking about the June calendar and some of the nature-based items that make the Roaring Fork Valley special, the first thing that popped into my head was cottonwood. And so, I didn’t have to think any further about what the June calendar would look like … it was cottonwood and blue skies—100%.

Our inspiring thoughts for the month are detailed below.
